There was a young man who expressed interest in Jesus with his words, but when Jesus told him to sell all his possessions and give his money away, he changed his tune.
And although Jesus offered him “riches in heaven” he chose to cling to his riches instead, forfeiting eternal life. (Matthew 19:21)
I believe God wants to do radical things. But we don’t allow him to interrupt our lives.
Lip service alone will not move mountains and break strongholds. We must be willing to pray radical prayers and exercise radical faith.
Like the rich young ruler, it’s hard for God to get our attention and steer us away from what feels safe and comfortable.
We settle for crumbs when the Bread of life is offering his whole Kingdom.
God’s fullness can’t manifest with “riches” in the way.
“Everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.” (v.29)
What have you chosen over Jesus?
